Welcome to the blog. This is my opportunity to speak about issues within learning and development that I'm passionate about, share a few hints and tips that sort of thing. And yes before you ask, that tragically is really me in the photo, although my hair is a bit longer now.

I contribute quite regularly to www.trainingzone.co.uk so if you can't wait for the next thrilling installment you might find something on there to keep you going.

I'm going to try to post at least once a week, but don't hold me to that. I'm currently looking for work and that's going to be my priority for the near future (and hopefully no longer than that). I've just finished managing a large scale training needs analysis project in the childcare sector which is a little outside of my usual area of expertise (my background is really bespoke IT training and soft skills) and I'm looking to get back to hands on design and delivery.

So I'll let you know how that's going too, to date in the last month I have submitted my CV for around 100 jobs, had about 10 responses from agencies etc., been to 3 interviews and still have nothing to show for it. If anybody can help with ideas or vacancies for contract work anywhere in the UK or Europe (if it's an English speaking job - shamefully I can't speak any other language fluently, though I can manage stilted French or even German if pushed), they'll be gratefully recieved.

I'm going to keep this post quite short, but I'll leave you with a "trainers tip" of sorts, it's pretty basic but very important: if you are delivering training in a venue you don't know, always get there half an hour earlier than you were planning to - you'd be amazed at the number of disasters that you can prevent in this time and it gives you a bit more time to judge the acoustics of the room too!

Until next time, take care.

Nik
